Five sports bras that combine tech and athleisure
Luxury brands look to maximise comfort and effectiveness with sports bras for women who work out
Nike
Women athletes told NikeWomen design team that a good sports bra is one that provides total support for a variety of activities and keeps them cool and dry without sacrificing comfort. It also needs to look as good as it feels.
With Sydney Leroux, the US Olympic soccer gold medallist the star of the campaign, Nike’s new Nike Flyknit sports bra is a digitally engineered knitting process that debuted at the 2012 London Olympics with the Flyknit Racer.

“We prioritised support, breathability and cooling in essential zones” for the Nike FE/NOM Flyknit Bra, Nike’s senior bra innovation designer Nicole Rendone says.
The result is a significant reduction in materials and seams: The bra has two panels and a binding (other high-support Nike bras can have up to 41 pieces and 22 seams) and is 30 per cent lighter than any other bra in its line.

Perfect Moment
Thierry Donard, the professional skier and extreme sports filmmaker and founder of Perfect Moment, aims for the perfect fusion of style and performance. The star printed stretch-jersey sports bra in storm-blue is his brainchild. It has a wide underbust band to support mid-intensity workouts like boxing and lifting weights.
