9 hot new sneaker collaborations you need to know

Once upon a time, long before the hype pervaded popular culture, the major sneaker brands would typically deliver one, maybe two coveted releases a month, with a heavy emphasis on storytelling. Nowadays, it’s commonplace to see these different labels ditch the “who, what, where, when and how”, and instead drop multiple pairs of heat in just one weekend. A welcomed dilemma for most.

With that said, we continue our weekly round-up of the most sought after silhouettes for the week, hoping to make your ‘cop or drop’ decision as easy as possible. Check out the list below and chime in on the styles you’ll be picking up.

1. Nike “EQUALITY” BHM Collection

Release date: January 15

Release price: US$120-$185, via Nike SNKRS & select Nike retailers

Nike adds another year to its “BHM” commemorative line with the addition of a few specially-themed models. As a part of the Swoosh’s “EQUALITY” campaign, the Air Force 1 Low, LeBron 15, Kyrie 4 and KD 10 all share a uniform theme. The three on-court models mix black, green and red colouring while the Air Force 1 Low is coated in black colouring and premium leather. Each silhouette is stamped with a special date celebrating key moments in black history.

2. Jordan Brand x Levi’s® Air Jordan 4

Release date: January 17

Release price: US$225, via select Jordan Brand retailers

Jordan Brand and Levi’s® come together to pay homage to each line’s respective history. This time around, the tandem create a special Air Jordan 4 boasting a standard denim wash to its upper while reverse denim is applied to its insole and inner lining. Additional details include Levi’s® signature red tab plus its paper label found via the hangtag and tongue.

3. Converse GOLF le FLEUR*

Release date: January 18

Release price: US$100, via select Converse retailers and Converse’s webstore

Tyler, The Creator’s Converse GOLF le FLEUR*, is back in a trio of new colour schemes. The reworked Converse One Star welcomes a flower design over the model’s traditional star logo as a nod to Tyler’s Flower Boy aesthetic. Its new “Bachelor Blue”, “Geranium Pink” and “Jade Lime” colour options join previously launches we’ve seen back in 2017.

4. Nike Kyrie 4 “Chinese New Year”

Release date: January 18

Release price: US$120, via select Nike Basketball retailers in Asia

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Nike Kyrie 4 will see a release exclusive to Asia. The mid-cut sneaker welcomes suede and engineered mesh to its upper, while floral embroidery is added to its tongue and lateral side, in addition to University Red & Team Red joining forces to complete the celebratory design.

5. adidas FUTURECRAFT 4D “Ash Green”

Release date: January 18

Release price: US$300, via select adidas Consortium retailers (NYC Exclusive: KITH, Packer Shoes & Sneakersnstuff)

Adidas strides into the future with the innovative FUTURECRAFT 4D model. Its black Primeknit upper rests atop the famed 3D-printed midsole in an “Ash Green” colour, while the Three Stripes logo is placed on the sneaker’s lateral and medial sides.

6. adidas Originals “2018 Chinese New Year” Pack

Release date: January 19

Release price: US$110-$150, available via select adidas Originals retailers and online

Adidas Originals’ NMD_R2, EQT Support ADV, Superstar and Campus models will join forces to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The pack sees uniform colour-blocking as each sneaker is dominated by light beige with red accents. Chinese characters are found on the heels with different blessings being added to each model.

7. Nike Zoom Fly “Sepia Stone” & “Neutral Indigo”

Release date: January 19-20

Release price: US$150, via Nike SNKRS & select Nike Running retailers

The Swoosh’s popular Zoom Fly runner is back in “Sepia Stone” and “Neutral Indigo,” respectively. The model’s original design remains intact while the time stamp design makes its way back onto each heel. Translucent and lightweight, Nike’s Zoom Fly walks the fine line between performance and aesthetic.

8. Nike Air Foamposite One “Aurora Green”

Release date: January 20

Release price: US$250, via Nike SNKRS & select nike Sportswear retailers

Nike continues to add quirky designs to the classic Air Foamposite One. Following the “Alternate Galaxy” colours, “Aurora Green” finds its way onto the wavy upper. Black serves as a complement to the aforementioned colour scheme as the sneaker’s traditional carbon fibre plate returns to the sole unit.

9. COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS x Nike Air Max 180 ‘s Brand New Collaboration Collection

Release date: January 2018

Release price: HKD$2,199

With the ever evolving and competitive fashion landscape in Japan, the highly influential designer Rei Kawakubo of COMME des GARÇONS still stands at the forefront of everybody’s minds. This season, COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS decided to collaborate with Nike on their classic joggers - the Air Max 180. This collaboration’s main theme is an “Electric Pink”, with accents of black and white, to create three new sneakers that show off the unconventional design style of COMME des GARÇONS.

Available exclusively at the COMME des GARÇONS Central shop in Hong Kong.
