Vans teams up with SpongeBob SquarePants on new collection
Characters of Nickelodeon’s hit family cartoon series will be featured on six different leisure shoes, clothing and even skateboard desks out this month
Vans, the American surfing footwear, apparel and accessories company, has followed up news of its collaboration with US rock band Metallica by revealing it has also teamed up with Nickelodeon’s family-favourite cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants on an extensive collection.
SpongeBob and other lovable residents of Bikini Bottom are now featured on the California-based brand’s classic Vault by Vans silhouettes, with the characters featured across Sk8-Hi, Authentic and Slip-On models on a total of six releases.
Patrick and SpongeBob are featured most prominently on the uppers of the shoes, while Plankton can be found carelessly squashed on the sole of the shoes to create a witty effect.
Design elements vary from all-over prints and chequerboard styling to fine details such as customised tongue tags and co-branded insoles.
The S pongeBob tie-up also includes casual clothing, including short-sleeved T-shirts and embroidered long-sleeved T-shirts in bright yellow colours.
Lastly, a small run of SpongeBob skateboard decks link everything back to the skateboarding lifestyle.
The SpongeBob SquarePants x Vault by Vans collection will sell from US$45 to US$260 across all of its products and be launched globally from February 24 at Vault retailers.
