A peck on the cheek, or going in for the kill with one hot, passionate kiss on the lips ... ladies, you know what I am talking about.

The dilemma of a date is to wear (lipstick), or not to wear?

And what about the make-up? Do we go highbrow, or should we keep it simple?

Be it a date on the beach or a night in the city’s hottest bar, or transitioning from work to a date in the evening, looking our best for this important occasion almost always stumps even the best of us.

Luckily, we had the chance to speak to Romero Jennings, MAC Cosmetics’ director of make-up artistry, in Hong Kong.

His extensive experience of working around the globe and fantabulous Instagram account have garnered fans and celebrity clients alike (he was interviewed by Kim Kardashian, gasp!).

Jennings, who is also way ahead of the curve when it comes to beauty trends, overseeing countless fashion weeks since joining MAC in the 1990s, was able to offer us expert tips to solve our dilemma and stay looking hot for two different kinds of date.

Despite his social media fame and jet-setting lifestyle, Jennings still finds time to travel the world and speak to clients and work on fashion spreads. He is, literally, hands on.

He says: “I always strive to innovate and to think about the next big trend.

“I constantly challenge myself to be more efficient, technical and productive. This really can be seen in the organisation of my make-up kit and my daily life.”

When asked how he retains his down-to-earth personality – despite all the glitz and glamour that surrounds him – Jennings says: “It just continues to inspire me, seeing all the make-up artists who work furiously and tirelessly around me.”

Enough said.

Now, let the maestro show us how to get a kiss, without ever ruining any of our perfect date make-up.
