Virgil Abloh hires DJ Benji B as Louis Vuitton’s music director

Men’s artistic director of fashion brand uses original score created by British DJ and group BadBadNotGood for debut show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week
On the eve of last Thursday’s show at Louis Vuitton, men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh appointed British DJ Benji B as the “music director” at the Parisian house.
Benji B – who the designer once described as “the Anna Wintour of club music” – worked with Toronto instrumental group BadBadNotGood to produce an original score for Abloh’s debut 2019 spring/summer collection show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
In addition to the runway score, Benji B and Abloh also worked together on a “new format” for fashion-week parties.
According to Abloh’s Instagram post, the “the night will always start with a sit-down performance” and “after that wave we’ll always book a DJ we admire”.
The first part of this featured a BadBadNotGood performance before DJ sets from Benji B, Abloh, No Vacancy Inn, Judah and Pedro.
After the party, it is unclear what Benji B’s role as music director at Louis Vuitton will entail.
