We’re ‘Happy’: Pharrell Williams reunites with Chanel for 2019 spring/summer collection

Pharrell Williams attended the Chanel Cruise 2018/19 replica show in Bangkok at the end of last month wearing a yellow embroidered sweatshirt from the collection.

It’s no secret that Pharrell Williams and Karl Lagerfeld are pals.

Their bromance dates back to 2014 when Williams appeared in Reincarnation, a short film created and directed by Chanel’s German fashion designer Lagerfeld. The American also composed the soundtrack for the film.

Over the years, they collaborated several more times – Williams was the face of Chanel’s Métiers d’art collection Paris-Salzburg 2014/2015 campaign, which was photographed by the designer himself; the singer also strutted down the catwalk for the Paris Cosmopolite 2016/2017 show; and was one of the faces for the brand’s Gabrielle bag campaign in 2017.

Last year, Williams even flexed his creative muscles for Chanel at a Colette event, customising a pair of Adidas sneakers to be sold exclusively at the pop-up store.

So, it’s no surprise that the duo are at it again as Williams rocked up to the Chanel Cruise 2018/2019 replica show in Bangkok at the end of last month wearing a yellow embroidered sweatshirt from a new collection.

And during his after-show performance, Williams dropped the bombshell that the “Chanel - Pharrell” ready-to-wear and accessories capsule collection for the 2019 spring/summer season.

The collection will be launched exclusively in Seoul on March 29 to coincide with the new Chanel flagship store in the South Korean capital, and then in selected brand boutiques worldwide from April 4.
