STYLE Edit: Nicole Scherzinger and Carina Lau celebrate Fendi’s Shapes of Water fountain exhibition

Florence Yip, Carina Lau, Nicole Scherzinger and Kathy Chow attend the Fendi cocktail party held to celebrate the The Shapes of Water exhibition, held at the Landmark Atrium, in Central.

The Shapes of Water exhibition at the Landmark Atrium, in Central, kick-started the Nature in Motion project, a collaboration between the Italian luxury house, Fendi, and Hong Kong Landmark for Hong Kong Art Month, which ran from March 26 to April 14.

A cocktail party to celebrate the exhibition attracted 300 of Hong Kong’s A-list celebrities and international guests, including American singer Nicole Scherzinger, Taiwanese actor Chen Bolin, mainland Chinese actor Mao Zijun, as well as actress-designer Carina Lau and jewellery designer Michelle Ong.

Serge Brunschwig, Fendi’s chairman and CEO, was also present.

Fendi also hosted a celebratory dinner at Aqua Group restaurant, Statement, located in the former Central Police Station, now known as Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts.

A “four hands culinary experience” was prepared by chef Natsuko Shoji of Été, in Tokyo, and Hong Kong celebrity chef Vicky Lau.

The Shapes of Water exhibition, headed by Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis, made its debut at Design Miami in December before moving to Hong Kong.

Water was the main inspiration for the exhibition, with 10 fountains influenced by the 10 most iconic symbols of the Italian house, including the Peekaboo bag.

The exhibition coincided with the 10-year anniversary of Fendi’s Peekaboo bag, originally designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi for the spring/summer 2009 collection.

As such, Fendi invited three Hong Kong designers, Ong, Carina Lau and Michael Lau to transform white canvas bags.

They had joined other international designers who were given a “carte blanche” in customising Peekaboo bags for Fendi, including pieces by Chris Wolston, from the United States, Japan’s Kiichiro Ogawa, China’s Oscar Wang and Teo Yang from Korea.

All of the customised Peekaboo bags were displayed on special podiums, crafted by Marcelis, at the Fendi Landmark boutique during the exhibition.

Silvia Venturini Fendi, the brand’s creative director of accessories, also designed five limited-edition Peekaboo bags that were exclusively for sale at the Landmark store.
