Shoemaker Roger Vivier’s forward-looking vision, as celebrated in this monograph

The book takes you inside the world of the brand, and its launch coincided with the opening of Maison Vivier, a restored hotel particulier in Paris

Roger Vivier: Heritage and Imagination, a monograph published by Rizzoli, celebrates that storied legacy by highlighting five thematic “salons”: Le Salon de l’Héritage, Le Salon des Formes, Le Salon de l’Ornement, Le Salon de la Célébrité and Le Salon de l’Imaginaire. Felloni and author Elizabeth Semmelhack eschew a chronological narrative and instead create “conversations” across disciplines and influences.

“What never ceases to surprise me is how profoundly forward-looking Monsieur Vivier was,” says Felloni. “His work was never driven by nostalgia or by a desire to replicate the past; on the contrary, he was constantly imagining the future of femininity and questioning how women would move, live and assert themselves in an ever-changing world. For him, elegance was never restrictive, but a form of freedom: intelligent, confident and instinctive.”
