6 hip Singapore bars that pour some of the city’s coolest cocktails

Set out to explore the Lion City’s cocktail scene and learn about Siamese luxe, gin, heritage buildings and Ernest Hemingway in bars like The Old Man, begIN and The Other Roof
Singapore might be a small market but there are no signs that its cocktail culture is ebbing. Here’s our round-up of six bars in Singapore that you should check out when you’re in the Lion City.
The Old Man

We love a good story when we are out at the bars – better yet, a story you can experience. Cue Hong Kong cocktail bar The Old Man. Inspired by novelist Ernest Hemingway, the Singapore outpost of the top bar on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list pays homage to the Pulitzer-prize winning fictional work, The Old Man and The Sea.
If you haven’t been to the mother ship on Aberdeen Street on Hong Kong Island, take heart as this transplant on Keong Saik Road delivers a similar experience – and is twice the size. The decor is underscored by a mosaic of Hemingway, shelves of vintage crystal bottles, and the writer’s novels.

Try The Sun Also Rises, named after Hemingway’s 1926 novel, an Asian-style negroni – a tropical concoction of coconut oil fat-washed applejack, curry leaf-infused gin, sweet vermouth sous-vide pandan leaves, and kaffir lime.
