Netflix’s best series comebacks – Lucifer, The Rain, 3%, High Seas and Trinkets all release new seasons to watch in August

From teen stories and period mysteries, to sci-fi and post-pandemic tales, these top-rated global series, ranging from the US to Denmark and Brazil, are bringing much-needed lockdown entertainment to a screen near you

To the relief of millions still living under lockdown, Netflix is set to have a big August, showing the power and breadth of its international output with shows like the Brazilian sci-fi series 3%, which returns with its fourth season.

Hit series Lucifer also returns for a fifth season this month, originally billed as its last. Netflix had renewed the series for a fifth and final season but then reversed course and decided to commission a sixth season – that is now expected to be the last.

Here we look at the most-anticipated returning TV shows using data from the television-tracking app TV Time based on its millions of users. In reverse order, here are the top five comebacks for August:
