The Virgin Suicides (1999), Lost In Translation (2003) and Marie Antoinette (2006) … three defining moments in recent movie history, all of them the work of director Sofia Coppola – yes, the daughter of famed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola.

The realisation of those films and the rest of her work is documented in her first book, Archive, a scrapbook-like tome featuring personal photographs, mood boards, collages, annotated scripts and many unseen images from the oeuvre of the Oscar-winning screenwriter, producer and director.

Mack’s Sofia Coppola Archive sees the director open her vaults to offer intimate glimpses behind the camera.

In the book, Coppola – who has many connections to the fashion world and is a frequent collaborator with Chanel – opens up about her remarkable filmography in a lengthy interview with film journalist Lynn Hirschberg.

To celebrate the release, we take an alternative, behind-the-scenes walk through Coppola’s filmography via our favourite images from the new book.
