Karl Lagerfeld, one year on: Chanel and Fendi designs pay tribute to the master designer
The world was shocked by the death of legendary German fashion designer, artist and photographer Karl Lagerfeld, aged 85, on February 19, 2019. Lagerfeld’s ability to create an elegance that required a fancy outfit as well as inner confidence, revived the fashion houses of Chanel and Fendi, and left an imposing legacy in the fashion industry.
We adore his bespoke creation for Cate Blanchett in the 2013 Woody Allen movie Blue Jasmine, a black comedy about a stylish former Manhattan socialite who has fallen on hard times and has to move into her working class sister’s flat in San Francisco.
