Taking its name from the qilin, an auspicious mythical animal and icon of love, the high-end Hong Kong jeweller is famous for the Yu Yi necklace, while a new twist to the Double Wulu collection introduces interlocking pairs symbolising blessings and positivity

Fans of the brand will know that Qeelin’s fine jewellery is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese symbolism. Be it the brand’s famous Yu Yi necklace, which represents protection and spiritual potency, or the Wulu collection inspired by the Chinese gourd, a symbol of good luck in Asian culture, Qeelin’s unique pieces are created from a purely Eastern perspective.

This season, Qeelin has given a new twist to its Double Wulu collection with the introduction of pairs of interlocking Wulus that symbolise blessings and positivity. “From the day we were born, our lives are intertwined with our loved ones. So are our destinies and our fortunes,” says Dennis Chan, Qeelin’s founder and creative director. “Double Wulu is a reflection of our love for that special someone or for the family. We care just as much, if not more, for them,” he says.

Encapsulating the brand’s philosophy of balance and harmony, each piece of jewellery in the Double Wulu collection showcases Qeelin’s trademark craftsmanship and attention to detail. The interlocked pair of Wulus in various sizes are crafted out of 18-carat rose-gold and adorned with diamonds. The collection includes a pendant, dangling earrings, delicate bracelet, ear studs and a matching ring.

Favoured by celebrities like Katy Perry and Kate Winslet, Qeelin’s fine jewellery shot to the limelight when Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung wore a single Wulu earring at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004.

Qeelin’s name is derived from a mythical Chinese animal called the qilin, which is associated with romance. In keeping with the brand’s values, the Double Wulu, is almost like a perfect symbol of love. “Intertwined Wulus, intertwined fortunes. There is something incredibly romantic about that. May the wearer be doubly blessed,” says Chan.
