Inside the world’s ‘first gold-plated hotel’, Vietnam’s Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake

Imbuing a golden gleam to the city’s skyline, in this new 5-star Hanoi hotel all that glitters really is gold – from cutlery to toilet seats
Exuding a distinctly old-world charm and sumptuous sophistication, the latest five-star hotel to open its doors in Vietnam’s bustling capital city of Hanoi is making golden-hued waves in the international waters of the travel and hospitality industries.
Sure, the Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake provides its guests with world-class amenities and a prime location with stunning lake and city views; but what dramatically sets the Hanoi hotel apart from other five-star lodgings and accommodation options is the fact that it’s been almost entirely coated in gold plating.
Having recently launched its gilded offering to much fanfare, the question begging to be answered is whether there is more to marvel at the Dolce than its sleek and shiny exterior?
First in glow
At first glance, the Dolce hotel is singular and oh-so-striking. As reportedly the planet’s first gold-plated hotel, the building’s extravagant exterior is covered from top to bottom in the bright and bold precious metal. Though its fancy facade is undeniably eye-catching, particularly when sunlight strikes it, the hotel’s cachet of opulence extends well into its interior.
In addition to its being contained within a building that looks like it has been touched by fabled King Midas, the hotel boasts an abundance of other gold-plated features.
From cutlery, cups and even the gold-infused food to bathroom elements – like shower heads, bathtubs, mirrors and toilet seats – the hotel’s glitzy opulence is ubiquitous. Even the hotel’s rooftop infinity pool and luxe lobby are bedecked in an inordinate amount of golden goodness; at the Dolce it is gold as far as the eye can see.
