Moncler X Rimowa’s new Instagram-friendly suitcase collab, Brunello Cucinelli’s designer mahjong set and Hong Kong’s first whisky-tasting Macallan Room – October 2020’s most exciting luxury lifestyle launches

Covid-19 might have barred us from travel, but instead of sitting at home bingeing Netflix consider sipping The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old or Double Cask 18 Years Old in its new whisky room in K11 Musea – or planning ahead your next trip with Moncler X Rimowa’s Reflection suitcase – where you pick the message you want to project

Of all the things to receive a boost during the past few months, when opportunities to go out have been limited at best, one of the most encouraging is the noble art of mahjong, the perfect way to while away an afternoon, evening, or entire week while stuck at home. Now, proving that the venerable Chinese game continues to have global appeal – or possibly just that Western brands really need the Chinese market – Italian luxury fashion brand Brunello Cucinelli has launched its first mahjong set.
The tasteful set is made from a combination of European walnut wood and Krion, a hyper-modern, stone-like synthetic material that’s warm to the touch. The set can only be ordered at the brand’s stores – it has four in Hong Kong, you’ll no doubt be delighted to learn – and the brand is only revealing the price on request.
Hong Kong’s very own Macallan Room

The opening was marked by the launch of two whiskies new to the APAC region: The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old and Double Cask 18 Years Old. The pair follow the successful launch of the Double Cask 12 Years Old in 2016. Aged in barrels made from a combination of North American and European oak, these new additions promise greater depth and complexity. The 15 Years delivers notes of dried fruit, toffee and vanilla, while the 18 Years has a similar but spicier edge with hints of ginger.
