As the world makes progress in battling the Covid-19 pandemic and countries relax their social distancing rules, kings and queens are returning to the public eye as they pick up their royal duties once more.

And their outfits are chosen deliberately to project their intentions, be it to show togetherness or nostalgia, as with Princess Anne’s purple outfit for Anzac Day that recalled her mother Queen Elizabeth’s style, and Kate Middleton and Prince William’s accessory tribute to the late Princess Diana.
Besides the British royals, Spanish Queen Letizia made a statement by wearing head-to-toe local Spanish brands, while Queen Rania of Jordan showed her support for women by also donning locally inspired designs.

Plus, there’s posh outfits from the queen of Sweden and the family fashion of the Dutch royal family – here is a round-up of the latest in royal fashion.

Often praised as one of Europe’s best-dressed royals, Queen Letizia of Spain, wife of King Felipe VI, showed a bold summer style when attending the 6th Educational Congress on Rare Diseases.

She opted for a full locally manufactured ensemble: a white puff-sleeved blouse, and red wide-leg culottes and patent leather shoes from Uterque, owned by Inditex group, parent company of Zara.

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on April 29 and released two official photos. Kate looked radiant in a blue summery chiffon dress from Ghost, again wearing a favourite look from her wardrobe.

The couple also paid a subtle tribute to his late mother. Kate deliberately put on her engagement ring – encrusted with a 12ct oval blue sapphire and fourteen diamonds – one of a number of fine pieces synonymous with Princess Diana, while William wore an Omega Seamaster Quartz, a timepiece he wore to his wedding that was a gift from Diana.

Kate also shared a portrait of Princess Charlotte taken by the Duchess herself, in which the six-year-old was dressed in a cute floral dress from Rachel Riley.

A week after Prince Philip’s funeral, Princess Anne attended another memorial service in London. This time, she represented the royal family at the Anzac Day commemoration in a rare appearance with her husband Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence.

The 70-year-old princess channelled her mother, Queen Elizabeth’s fashion sense, wearing a coat in vibrant purple – a tone second only to black for mourning – with matching hat and low-heeled shoes.

She switched to a pair of black knee-high boots when laying a wreath at the Australian and New Zealand War Memorials.

In late April, Queen Rania of Jordan paid a visit to the Al Yusra Women Charity Society in Madaba to learn how they are empowering local women.

The Arab queen of fashion – who’s also known for recycling her wardrobe – struck the right tone by wearing an embroidered Palestinian maxi dress she had previously donned for royal engagements.

In celebrating King’s Day in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was joined by daughters Catharina-Amalia, 17, Alexia, 15, and Ariane, 14, to celebrate her husband, King Willem-Alexander’s 54th birthday.

At the concert, Queen Maxima showed up in a black lace-panelled Elie Saab pantsuit and a pendant from Royal Asscher.

The oldest daughter, Princess Catharina-Amalia (in the middle in the picture above) leaned towards affordable high street brands with a Massimo Dutti wool coat, V-neck knit top from Zara, and a pair of Jimmy Choo Devleen mirrored-leather pumps.
