Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille has had a long-standing relationship with the world of motorsport racing. In 2020, it even created its own all-female Richard Mille Racing Team – not just to further its relationship with motorsports, but also to advance the role of women in racing.

In 2021, the Richard Mille Racing Team comprises racers Beitske Visser, Sophia Flörsch and Tatiana Calderón, all of whom share the brand’s ambition and daring spirit. After an excellent debut during the 2020 European season, the team is following up with a more ambitious tilt at the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this year. The first race was the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on April 29-May 1, where the team claimed a creditable four points. To celebrate the team’s new beginnings, Richard Mille did what it does best – create watches.

Designed in collaboration with the Richard Mille Racing team, the RM 07-01 Racing Red is a sporty take on Richard Mille’s RM 07-01 ladies’ watch, with all the vaunted attributes of the original. It bears a fiery red case made of Richard Mille’s signature Carbon TPT and Quartz TPT, materials that have the capacity to withstand the shocks and stresses of a racing car cockpit. The bright red hue of the case and dial reflect the signature red of Roxy, the sleek Oreca-Gibson #1 car that the team is crewing during its races. The watch is limited to just 50 pieces worldwide.

As in motorsport, the engine at the heart of the machine is everything. The RM 07-01 Racing Red uses the in-house calibre CRMA2, which is an automatic skeletonised movement. Unlike the racing car, this powerhouse watch is just as useful off the track. In fact, all three drivers will be wearing the watch during races as well as in their daily lives. With any luck, the watch will also be accompanying the ladies onto the winners’ podium.
