The fashion world is in full bloom in September as international fashion weeks return and stylistas show off head-turning streetwear. From trainers to handbags, here are some of our favourite staples to get ready for the upcoming fashion extravaganza.

Fendi

Fishing nets and Fendi? No, we’re not talking about hosiery, but the Italian house’s new Baguette messenger bag crafted from fibres regenerated from fishing nets, carpet flooring and other nylon consumer waste products.

Econyl nylon has previously been used by a few luxury brands in an effort towards sustainability, including the likes of Gucci and Prada. The innovative fibre is 100 per cent recycled from plastics that would have otherwise polluted Mother Earth. Importantly, the quality of the synthetic fibre doesn’t change; it can be recycled infinitely and will be exactly the same as any brand new nylon product.

Other than its new square shape, the Baguette’s stand-out feature is its lightness, from the use of padded nylon.

There are everyday black and blue versions, as well as one in the iconic Fendi yellow, which can be worn on the shoulder or cross-body. We love the monochromatic hardware too, which has been painted to match the rest of the bag, whatever colour you choose. Offered in large and medium sizes, the Baguette makes a handy and stylish travel companion.

Loewe

Didn’t get on the chunky boot trend last winter? If you’re looking to rock it like South Korean singer and rapper Hyuna, Loewe’s new wedge loafer boot might be a chance to get up to speed.

Inspired by the brand’s seasonal show themes of pumped-up volume and distortion, the new boot has exaggerated proportions and adds a masculine edge to any look.

The wedge boot is an avant-garde hybridisation of the moccasin and signature Loewe sock detail that we’ve seen in both men’s and women’s footwear. The sock detail is a little more pronounced than in footwear from previous seasons, made with a smooth calfskin that contrasts with the croc-embossed leather on the moccasin shape.

Celine

Even if you’re nowhere near the courts, the new CT-03 trainer looks like a slam dunk. Celine treats sneakerheads to its latest high-tops in its autumn/winter 2021 collection and, like its predecessors released a season back – the CT-01 “Z” sneaker and the CT-02 mid-top – the third Celine trainer designed by Hedi Slimane explores the history of sport and performance. In this case that means Los Angeles youth culture of the late 80s and early 90s, when trainers were both a practicality for basketball games and a statement for the streets.

Although the CT-03 is a very functional basketball shoe, with flexibility, comfort and perspiration control achieved through the mesh-lined tongue, perforations and textile lining, it’s also unmistakably a luxury brand shoe. The calfskin trainers are clearly identified by the large embossed “Celine” at the back, on the tongue, on the “scratch” or strap, as well as debossed on the outside of the rubber outsole.
