We in Hong Kong now have the chance to release our inner creativity by painting dramatic pictures in the air without even picking up a brush, thanks to an exciting competition from Italian luxury watchmaker Panerai. The Light Painting Competition – Luminate Your Time Challenge, at the brand’s Canton Road flagship boutique in Tsim Sha Tsui until November 21, offers a whole new way to flex your creative muscles.

The biggest reveals at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2021

With its history as a supplier of precision wrist-based diving instruments to the Italian navy, Panerai knows more than most about the importance of high visibility in low light conditions. Since 1993, the dials of divers’ watches around the world have been lit up in the dark by Super-Luminova, a remarkable substance that provides complete readability in conditions of almost total darkness. Panerai has long deployed Super-Luminova on iconic models such as its Luminor collection – and it’s celebrating this magical material with the new competition.

All participants need to do is “paint” in the air with their movements using only light, with the results photographed using a very long exposure lasting up to a minute. As well as the fun of creating their own painting, participants also have the chance to win prizes, including a light painting workshop and a grand prize of a Panerai Watch Winder.
