STYLE Edit: Hermès launches a collection of 144 accessories for spring/summer 2022, including new Colormatic Birkin and Kelly bags, equestrian-inspired leather goods, and Apple watches
Among the bags alone, there are pieces that run the gamut from traditionally luxurious to highly innovative, even whimsical. The brand’s highly coveted Birkin and Kelly handbags are reinterpreted with playful designs crafted in swift calfskin, adding new iterations to the Colormatic series.
A delightfully idiosyncratic fringed bag inspired by 1920s flapper dresses, meanwhile, is available in a range of new colours; while the daringly different new Kellydole bag, a recreation of a piece unveiled back in 2000, originally designed by former Hermès chairman Jean-Louis Dumas, comes adorned with a pixelated, video game-style character.

Inspiration for the collection’s bags comes from other sources, too. The Bolide bag, for example, takes its cues from the world of skating, with a base that echoes the shape of a skateboard, decorated with a street art-inspired design. A new backpack looks to the military, featuring a new material, bivouac canvas, which is both tough and water-repellent.
Among a range of new watches and jewellery, the new Faubourg Polka women’s timepiece features an eye-catching new bracelet showcasing off-centre lines and dots. The farrier nail, meanwhile, which attaches horseshoes to hooves, forms the basis of the new Clou de Forge collection of necklaces, pendants, bracelets, rings and earrings.
The footwear in the collection includes sandals and trainers are available for men and women, accompanied by ankle boots for men, and clogs and mules for women; while among other accessories are ties, hats, belts, scarves and other silk items.

Beyond that, there’s a range of beachwear and beach accessories, all manner of homeware choices, and even a range of powerbanks and Apple watches.
Finally, for the true originals among you, there are also some deeply desirable items in the collection that more or less defy categorisation. There’s a large earthenware jar fitted with a Kelly bag handle, the work of the house’s Petit h re-creation workshop, which creates beautiful items from leftover materials. There’s a covetable three-storey calfskin nail enamel carousel held together with an adjustable harness. And, so that every member of the family can feel that Hermès touch, there’s even a portable kennel inspired by equestrian show grounds.
