  • Chinese designer Feng Chen Wang and contemporary artist Xu Zhen from Shanghai join forces with Canada Goose to create a new lifestyle collection, featuring jackets, knitwear and footwear
  • Deconstruction and customisation are main themes: the collection features a skirt that combines denim with a layer of ripstop fabric across the front

Hailing from the land of long, chilly winters, Canada Goose – known for championing sustainability – has long been the go-to brand for anyone who wants to combine unmatched protection from the cold with eye-catching aesthetics and an absolute commitment to luxury. Now the brand is exploring new territory in its bid to protect us all from the winter, thanks to a partnership with not one but two Chinese creative titans.

The brand’s new lifestyle collection has come about as a result of a collaboration with Beijing-born, London-based hi-tech minimalist fashion designer Feng Chen Wang; while it also showcases the work of Shanghainese experimental conceptual artist Xu Zhen, best known for his Under Heaven series of tactile works depicting brightly coloured, flowerlike shapes and swirls, which appear on a selection of the items in the collection – and which also form the backdrop to the campaign that promotes it. Featuring jackets, knitwear, accessories, trousers and a skirt, this is also Canada Goose’s first collaboration to feature footwear.

That takes the form of a new rendition of the brand’s indestructible looking Journey Boots, to which Wang has added denim and contrasting colours, as well as a removable upper collar. A similar element of deconstruction and customisation is apparent throughout the collection. There’s the Women’s Sence Blazer, made using the durable, windproof Recycled Dura-Force, which can also be worn as a vest and features a removable belt with a detachable pouch; and the Roebuck Parka, made from the super cold resistant Recycled Organic Arctic Tech, which can also be transformed into a vest. The Carnaby Trench, meanwhile, combines a removable belt with a statement making high collar; while the Langham and Mercer down jackets can be reconfigured in several ways.

Also providing winter warmth is the HyBridge Jacket for Feng Chen Wang, which will keep you toasty with a combination of a cashmere wool blend and down insulation; while the Seaton Sweater is a cropped, corset style jumper. In another first for Canada Goose, the collaboration features a skirt, in the form of the asymmetrical Bedford, which combines denim with a layer of ripstop fabric across the front.
