Creative director Claire Choisne has launched Nom: Boucheron Prénom: Frédéric, the latest of the maison’s Histoire de Style collections

To this day, beloved Parisian luxury jeweller Boucheron continues to be driven by the spirit of the man who established the company over 160 years ago. Frédéric Boucheron was a trailblazer who reimagined the role of jewellery. Now, four historical pieces that exemplify his commitment to innovation have been reborn.

An ode by Boucheron’s current creative director Claire Choisne dedicated to its founder, Nom: Boucheron Prénom: Frédéric is the latest of the maison’s Histoire de Style collections, which reinterpret its heritage through a contemporary lens.

The French capital’s grand Place Vendôme might be the spiritual home of the global luxury jewellery industry today, but that wasn’t always the case. It’s a perfect example of Frédéric Boucheron’s pioneering spirit – he was the first to open a boutique there, in 1893.

His decision is honoured in one of the pieces in the new collection, an octagonal pendant called The Address. A neater, more elegant version of the historical piece it’s based on, the necklace is made from white gold, diamonds and black lacquer, and showcases a 10.01-carat diamond as its centrepiece.

A classic Question Mark necklace from 1884 is given a creative twist in The Spark, another collection highlight. Dangling from its end are eight diamonds in a dazzling variety of cuts: marquise, Asscher, oval, hexagonal, pear, emerald, round brilliant – and the star of the show – a 5.01-carat kite-cut stone surrounded by baguettes. These statement stones are interspersed with princess-cut diamonds, and further diamonds pave the piece’s collar.

Frédéric Boucheron’s commitment to the new extended to jewellery pieces designed to be worn in novel places, such as the back of the hand and the shoulder. This adaptability is the inspiration for another new piece, The Silhouette, which features multiple sinuous chains made of more than 2,500 round diamonds.
