How to get your hands on rare Mouton Rothschild wine – and enjoy a private tasting in France
Three auctions in Hong Kong, London and New York will offer up five bottles of the rare vintage in limited-edition Versailles Celebration cases
Château Mouton Rothschild and the Palace of Versailles have teamed up to auction 75 limited-edition Versailles Celebration cases featuring five Château Mouton Rothschild vintages this spring.
Vintages from the first-growth Bordeaux estate are from 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2013. Each of the vintages’ labels are designed by contemporary artists who have exhibited at Versailles.
Proceeds from the sales will be donated to restoration projects at the palace, one of France’s most culturally and historically significant landmarks.
Three auctions will be held by Sotheby’s across three international auction hubs. The journey kicks off in Hong Kong on April 1, and moves to Sotheby’s London office on April 17 and to New York on May 4.
Successful bidders will get more than five bottles of rare wine. They, along with a guest, will be invited to take part in a private visit and tasting at Château Mouton Rothschild, as well as attend the Versailles Celebration Gala Dinner on September 21 at the palace.
