SIHH 2019: Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ‘midnight blue’ Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel shines

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 39mm Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel timepiece was revealed at this week’s SIHH 2019 – the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie watch fair – in Geneva.

Jaeger-LeCoultre is putting elegance and artistic mastery back on the map with its new Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel watch, which is set to enhance the maison’s signature Master Ultra Thin line.

The 39mm timepiece, revealed at this week’s SIHH – Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie – in Geneva, highlights the complicated arts of guillochage – a method of creating guilloche decorations on surfaces with precise, intricate, interconnecting and repetitive patterns – and enamelling.

As a Swiss luxury watchmaking maison, Jaeger-LeCoultre is rare in that it is one of the few manufacturers that can say it offers gem-setting, engraving, guillochage and enamelling at its workshops – all of which require the most deft of hands and the highest level of craftsmanship.

The hand-guilloche enamelled dial comes in a dark blue that the brand romantically calls, “a deep, intense midnight blue”. The dial is further complemented with a moon phase and a date function, both located at 6 o’clock.

The visual affect is stunning. If you wanted to dress to the nines, this white gold timepiece should be on your list.

Finally, as the name suggests, the timepiece is very thin, measuring only 10.04mm thick. It comes driven by an automatic movement, the calibre 925/2, which offers 70 hours of power reserve.

The new Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel watch is limited to just 100 pieces.
