A Scottish bothy with Johnnie Walker whisky in Hong Kong? Aye!

A rendering of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Bothy that will launch in Hong Kong from February 18 to March 2

If you fancy a wee dram in true Scottish style – minus the freezing temperatures – you’re in luck. Johnnie Walker is creating a bothy – a cottage or refuge usually found in the mountains – in Hong Kong, where whisky lovers can taste rare whiskies from the four main whisky-making regions in Scotland, including an incredibly rare Cambus 40 year old 1975, the Talisker 25 year old, Teaninich 17 year old, Glen Elgin 18 year old, and, of course, the Blue Label itself.

While traditional bothies tend to be simple constructs, the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Bothy is perhaps a touch more sophisticated. The experience will take place in Test Kitchen in Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong, the first planned stop of what could potentially be a global trip, if this goes well.

Guests at the 15-seat dinner will enjoy a multisensory experience, with visual and textural elements inspired by the Scottish mountains, while the whisky-tasting and the six-course dinner prepared by Michelin-starred chefs – Nicholas Chew of BIBO and Noel Berard of Ecriture – will fulfil the olfactory and gustatory senses.
