The American Oscar-winning-actress Angelina Jolie is nearing her first superhero film role.

The actress, 43, who won the best-supporting-actress Oscar for the 1999 film, Girl, Interrupted, will be the latest Academy Award winner to join the MCU.

She will be following other winners Anthony Hopkins, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lupita Nyong’o, who have also starred in the biggest film franchise of all time. Of course, there many more actors and actresses who have been nominated, but never won an Oscar, such as Robert Downey Jnr, Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams.

A couple of Oscar-winning actors have also showed up in the MCU in blink-and-you’ll-miss-them cameos. Matt Damon, who won the Oscar for best original screenplay for Good Will Hunting, plays Loki in a stage version of the character in Thor: Ragnarok. And Jennifer Connelly, who won a best-supporting-actress Oscar for A Beautiful Mind, voices Spider-Man’s computer interface in his suit in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
