An impressive line-up of rare spirits is going under the hammer at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on Saturday

The Acker distilled auction will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on Saturday, May 11 and it’s Acker’s first to be devoted to rare whiskies and cognacs. Interested parties overseas or those who prefer to bid from the comfort of home can do so via AckerLive, but they will miss out on the popular pre-event tasting at the auction house.

Stars of the show include a Hennessy 8 in a decanter designed by Baccarat, Macallan 1950 Fine and Rare, Macallan 1951 Fine and Rare, Balvenie 50 years 2018 release, Macallan 1945 – 68 years – Spey Malt, Hennessy 1868 First Lading Cognac and Hine Cognac 250th Anniversary.

For bourbon aficionados looking for a more packaged experience, there will also be a special offer featuring the Kentucky bourbon, Pappy Van Winkle. The package includes the rare 25-year-old, six other bourbons, lunch and a distillery tour for six people in Frankfort, Kentucky, as well as the opportunity to take part in a private cask purchase process of the Buffalo Trace Distillery.

“This is a rarefied offering that speaks to cult collectors of what is one of the world’s most exciting distilleries,” says Acker Merrall & Condit chairman John Kapon. “The global fan base for this limited-production bourbon is enormous.”

An industry report by researchandmarkets.com shows that the global whisky market is expected to grow by 5.3 per cent annually for the next five years, and Acker is encouraged by these statistics.
