Sources report that the couple – whose romance, marriage and birth of their son was confirmed in a series of Instagram posts – finalised their divorce on July 1

Is the fairy tale over? Former Miss Moscow Rihana Oksana Petra was posting photographs of her infant son on social media only a month ago, and now divorce rumours are already circulating.
According to the New Straits Times in Malaysia, the 25-year-old former beauty queen – who changed her name from Oksana Voevodina to Rihana Oksana Petra after her marriage – and 49-year-old Sultan Muhammad V have allegedly divorced after a marriage that lasted just over one year.

While there have been no official statements issued by the sultan, nor any updates on Rihana’s Instagram page to confirm or dispel the rumours, sources at the New Straits Times said documents were filed at the Singapore Sharia Court on June 22, and the divorce itself was finalised on July 1.

The rumours seem to stem from the appearance of a divorce certificate online, which the newspaper’s source confirmed to be genuine.

The document raised concerns because it appeared to be a “talak tiga” – or talaq baayin – divorce, which refers to an irrevocable agreement that the couple cannot remarry save for a situation in which the woman marries another man, and this man willingly divorces her or dies.

The Kelantan palace has issued no statement on the matter of the divorce. It had previously released a statement on the official conferment of royal titles after an earlier post by Rihana referred to her newborn son as the “Crown Prince” and her wish for him to be King of Kelantan.

The post has since been edited.
