STYLE Edit: Alber Elbaz and Tod’s bring more Happy Moments with second drop
If you missed the launch of Tod’s Happy Moments collaboration with Alber Elbaz, you will be pleased to hear that the cheerful capsule collection is set for a second drop in September.

The exclusive Tod’s x Elbaz collection, which includes shoes and accessories for men and women, launched in July.
Elbaz, Lanvin’s artistic director from 2001 to 2015, is the second designer to collaborate with Tod’s at the T Factory, the Italian brand’s “lab” initiative that tests new ideas and creative partnerships.
The idea of celebrating different moments in life was a driving inspirational force for the idiosyncratic designer.
When asked why Elbaz chose this cheerful theme for his capsule collection with Tod’s, the Moroccan-Israeli designer said: “We all need a bit of happiness in our lives … And today more than ever.
“My initial intuition was simply to make people happy in different moments of their lives, or just different times of the day.”
Elbaz had Anna Wintour and the late Franca Sozzani, former editor-in-chief at Vogue Italia, to thank for meeting Diego Della Valle, chairman and CEO of Tod’s Group. Like all great partnerships, Elbaz and Della Valle bonded over “food and fashion”, said the designer. The pair visited T Factory later and set about planning their first collaboration.
“Behind concrete walls,” said Elbaz, “I met a group of passionate and dedicated individuals, true artisans, who bring new projects to life. I met the family of Tod’s but, in reality, I met Diego’s ‘family’. I truly appreciated and respected Diego’s vision.”
The Happy Moments collection reinterprets Tod’s iconic driving shoe, a classic moccasin with a signature rubber pebble outsole.
For the capsule collection, the driving shoe becomes more aerodynamic, and noticeably brighter in its colour variations.
Although there are no sneakers on offer (Elbaz says the market is already saturated with sneakers), Happy Moments includes loafers mounted on sneaker soles, remaining true to Tod’s philosophy while offering a fresh update.

The collection also features neoprene, or Scuba Fabric for the first time.
For the second drop, be sure to look out for the Happy Family shoes with a metallic finish in candy red, acid green, bright pink, silver and gold. The pieces, with matching soles, add a delightful shine to the whimsical collection.
