STYLE Edit: Daniel Lee showcases a new kind of luxury in Bottega Veneta’s Fall 2019 campaign

Fall 2019 collection is Lee’s first runway show for the house since he became creative director
Bottega Veneta and creative director Daniel Lee have unveiled their Fall 2019 campaign, photographed by Tyrone Lebon in Los Angeles.
Lee, who became creative director in 2018, used the Fall campaign to bring his new Bottega Veneta universe into full view. The Fall 2019 collection is Lee’s first runway show for the house.

“Strength, sensuality, being in the moment. Bottega Veneta is about defining a point of view, a new way of seeing subtle individuality, and then subverting that status,” says the 32-year-old British designer.
The postmodernist perspective on luxury is symbolised by a racing car, wrapped in pure gold, being upended in the background while the model wears the clean, polished and precise looks of the Fall 2019 collection.
We see Bottega Veneta’s modern woman in the collarless, leather chain mail coat from the runway, conceived by the new creative director after acquainting himself with Bottega Veneta’s traditional leatherworking techniques and motifs.

In other shots, we see the same model in a silver mirror-embellished dress in satin jersey. The piece was also worn on the runway in a seductive nude skin colour. Paired with the mid-calf, stacked lug sole boots, Lee’s philosophy of subverting classic conceptions of luxury and femininity is clear.
