Rimowa keeps both journey and destination in mind with its vibrantly coloured Original aluminium collection suitcases
Using the bright ibis bird as its muse, Rimowa has unveiled a colourful and sturdy suitcase collection that will be easy to spot on in baggage claim
Nothing identifies your luggage in a sea of circling black boxes like a pop of bright colour. Stickers can be dated and messy; funky tags can fall off. But a vibrant red is eternal.
Today’s consumers, with their busy schedules, also want more choice and individuality in their luggage, forcing manufacturers to keep both journey and destination in mind when designing their wares.
The bright feathers of the scarlet ibis bird of Colombia’s and Venezuela’s tropical grasslands – and the vivid blue of the Mediterranean Sea – have inspired German luggage manufacturer Rimowa’s new Original aluminium collection with its fresh jolt of colour in scarlet and marine.
The new line is made in the same way as Rimowa’s silver version, using a combination of anodising processes to inject pigment directly into the suitcase’s skin, yielding a result that is rich and metallic.
The launch of these new shades follows in the wake of Rimowa’s Essential Collection with its seasonal colours. The new shades are available in cabin, check-in and trunk plus sizes starting from HK$8,350 (US$1,064) at all Rimowa stores.
