Diamond necklaces as anklets: Chaumet reinvents jewellery for its Paris exhibition, Autrement

Presenting brooches as hairpins and diamond necklaces as anklets and headpieces, the French house showcases innovative ways to wear jewellery at its Paris boutique
Unveiled during this year’s Paris Couture Week, Chaumet’s exhibition, Autrement, is now running in its Paris boutique at 165 Boulevard Saint-Germain. Spanning the store’s upper floors, the exhibition showcases a range of photographs taken by Swedish photographer Julia Hetta.
Autrement explores the innovative ways to wear jewellery, breaking the boundaries of jewel styling.
Featuring masterpieces from the French maison, the exhibition brings Chaumet’s jewellery-making and history-making moments to life.

A peacock feather brooch set with a Ceylon sapphire has been transformed into a statement-making hair pin, while a crescent moon brooch circa 1890 has been reinterpreted as an aigrette.
The stunning Promenades Impériales necklace, set with a 36-carat pear-shaped aquamarine, has been styled as a headband. The inaugural Joséphine Aigrette Impériale tiara, set with Akoya cultured pearls and brilliant-cut diamonds, has also been styled as a headband.

The dazzling Joséphine Rondes de Nuit pendant in 18ct white gold and brilliant-cut diamonds is draped on the model’s forehead rather than on the chest.
The fascinating photographs are also matched with historical frames from the 15th to 19th century provided by the Maison Lebrun.Jeux de Liens and Liens Séduction sautoirs have been fashioned as shoulder straps or anklets. Accompanying the photos are historical sketches and jewellery treasures from the brand’s archives as well as from private collectors.
