It may be cold outside but we have Celine’s spring 2020 campaign to remind us of warmer climes. The spring campaign, shot in Saint Tropez by artistic director Hedi Slimane back in May, carries on from the winter collection’s theme of evocative seventies daywear.

Spending habits of China’s self-made female billionaires

As in winter 2019, the “Parisian student” is the focus of the new spring collection, with an inclusive, unisex wardrobe. We also have the silhouette of a “bohemian, nonchalant Frenchwoman”, according to press notes. For this silhouette, we are invited to explore the full, feminine dimension of the collection.

Slimane conjures the free spirit of the seventies with denim culottes and Chasseur jackets, as well as summery pleated dresses and blouses with gathered puff sleeves, pleated shoulders, ruffled collars and pussy-bow necklines.

The pussy-bow necklines, or lavaliere blouses, bring something exquisitely feminine to the collection. These romantic tops are paired with high-rise flared jeans and a pair of white tennis shoes or clogs, evoking a fresh, laid-back summer look.

For more formidable footwear, the Celine Folco boot in tan calfskin is sure to make a fashion statement.

In addition to delicate floral prints and polka dots, our eye is drawn to the Maillon Triomphe bag in a summer-centric marine striped canvas. The classic French marine stripe can also be seen in the new collection’s “Marin” sweaters.

Other accessories seen in the campaign include the Teen Triomphe bag with the vintage Triomphe print canvas, as well as a basket-quilted cabas – perfect as a holdall for a Saint Tropez getaway.
