Famous naval designer and architect Espen Øino has revealed fresh design renderings of the 282-metre vessel which is billed as the “world’s largest private superyacht” and “the next generation of luxury superyachts”.

The Njord will double as a research vessel when it is built.

Called the Njord after the god of the seas and winds of Norse mythology, the luxury superyacht will double as a research vessel and will be equipped to undertake scientific and oceanographic missions.

The Njord only exists as a design project and a concept at this stage; the designer believes a 2024 delivery date could be possible and is looking for a shipyard to undertake the project.

The massive luxury vessel features 12 decks and 118 private residences, which will be available for sale. Each of these residential units can be customised to 20 different configurations and will feature a living room with sea views and access to open terraces.

The superyacht will come with underwater drones, submersibles and two Airbus ACH 160 helicopters with a range of 400 nautical miles. Let’s hope the project sees the light of day and revolutionises the industry.
