Mickey Mouse meets SK-II and GCDS goes Manga, while Etro bags Tom and Jerry – nostalgia is playfully probed in these fresh brand collaborations for spring/summer 2020

Being fashionable adults doesn’t mean the inner child within us is silenced – just look at the popularity of Disney movie remakes and vintage Lego sets. Brands know this and like to tug on emotional strings. Omega’s limited-edition collaboration with Japanese animation Ultraman, for instance, sold out within four hours – all 2,012 of them.

Cartoons never grow old, and neither does our sentiment towards them, whether it’s their power to conjure up memories of after-school TV time with our siblings, fighting over the remote, or frolicking in our favourite Halloween costume disguised as our most respected superhero. Disney’s timeless star also marries a spark of uninhibited, childlike magic to this Italian brand’s house motifs in shoes, bags, small leather goods, silk scarves and more.

Especially noteworthy are handbags and luggage in a new material, the mini GG Supreme canvas in beige and ebony, with Mickey Mouse print in varying scale, which has been introduced in reference to a house fabric from the 80s. The finishing gives it the appearance and texture of linen.
