Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks and his wife, the actress Rita Wilson, were among the first celebrities who revealed their diagnosis, shocking the world on March 12. Hanks began experiencing colds, body aches and chills, one of the early symptoms of the virus, as he was filming for an upcoming Elvis Presley biopic in Australia. He broke the news to fans with the following post:
Idris Elba
The latest celebrity to contract the virus is the British actor frequently tipped to play James Bond next – Idris Elba. He shared the news on Twitter on Monday (March 16) that he is not experiencing any symptoms so far and self-quarantined immediately. Elba requested to get tested as he was exposed to someone who had contracted the virus. He then prompted followers to follow protocol by washing hands and practising social distancing.

Kristofer Hivju
Along with Idris Elba, Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju, best known for playing Tormund Giantsbane on Game of Thrones, declared his diagnosis on March 16. He is experiencing mild symptoms of a cold and currently quarantined at home in Norway.
