Fans are wondering why these four famous couples decided to call it quits

Now that much of the world is sheltering in place, the idea of having a person to share a cosy space with makes social distancing a little easier. Four celebrity couples, however, will be weathering the pandemic solo. Recently split from long-term relationships, their break-ups had fans wondering why they decided to call it quits. Here are the four celebrity couples who recently broke up, and why they decided to go separate ways.

The Fenty Beauty owner and Saudi billionaire were together for three years and many speculated this partnership might one day become a marriage. But in January 2020 the couple announced their split, and many were left wondering why. “Their lives were too different and it was hard to maintain a relationship,” a source told People magazine.

Riri, 32, was seen after the break-up with both Drake and A$AP Rocky, sparking rumours she was dating one or both of them, but a source told E! Entertainment: “Rihanna is single. She just got out of a long intense relationship with Hassan. She wants to be single and isn’t going to jump into something. She’s hanging out with A$AP Rocky, but she is not dating him.” We’re keeping our eyes open for who she will partner with next.

Jeffree Star and Nathan Schwandt

When 34-year-old make-up guru and YouTuber Star broke up with his 26-year-old boyfriend Schwandt after five years, the internet went crazy. Star, who had the title “wifey of Nathan” on his Twitter profile, posted an emotional video explaining the two had parted ways. “The love of my life … is no longer here every morning,” he said, adding the two were in a “state of shock”.

Schwandt and Star met on Instagram in 2014 and began dating in 2015. Star finally spilled the tea about the break-up on Instagram: “I was with someone that didn’t want to go out, didn’t want to go to strip clubs, didn’t ever want to go to the club … so it’s nice to enjoy things that you haven’t done in a while.” Rumours spread about Star rebounding with make-up artist MMMMitchell, but Star refuted that, saying: "[The] last thing I’m trying to do right now is be in a relationship with anyone. Me and MMMMitchell are really close friends.”
