NU’EST came back with their eighth mini album, “The Nocturne”, on May 11, giving L.O.Λ.E new songs to add to their playlist, and served stunning visuals with their cinematic music video and concept photos. The charisma of lead rapper Aron has caught the attention of fans around the world.

Here are five things you should know about the group’s oldest member and well-rounded artist, who turns 27 this May 21.

He is a fur parent

Aron loves hanging out with his pets, and he currently has two dogs: Noah and Kkotsoonie. He posts videos on Instagram with his furbabies and sometimes, just the dogs.

He even did a photo shoot with Noah for Naver x Dispatch in 2018, which was a huge hit with fans as they saw the cute and adorable moments of the two playing in a park.

He is the group’s ‘sexy brain guy’

Before becoming a part of NU’EST and moving to Seoul, Aron lived in the United States, where he was in the top 0.5 percentile for the SAT college admission, landing a score of 2,200 out of 2,400 with most of his mistakes in the maths section. He was also accepted into New York University for journalism in 2011, but he pursued his dream of becoming a singer and joined Pledis.

He is known to have learned Korean in less than a year, despite knowing little to none of the language. Aron also appeared on the show, Problematic Men, a variety talk show programme that has guests solve problems related to a certain theme.

He is bad at acrostic poems

Pop idols are asked to create funny and witty acrostic poems (in which the first letter of each line spells out a word or message) on variety shows and in their live-streams. Although he is the resident smart guy, Aron is bad at creating acrostic poems. In an episode of Star Road, he received a punishment of creating an acrostic poem but failed to come up with one, saying he is usually bad at this kind of activity.

He loves dad jokes and pulling pranks

Most older members of pop groups are known to love busting out dad jokes, and Aron is no different. NU’EST even acknowledges him as the member who loves ahjae (dad) gags, and he shares dad jokes any chance he gets, whether in variety shows or at fan events. He also loves to pull pranks on the other band members and be competitive, such as being the first person to like a member’s photo on Instagram.

He is a big sports fan

Not only is he musically talented, but he loves to get involved with sports as well. He’s into golf, boxing, basketball, soccer and swimming. He taught the other members of the band how to play golf in an episode of Idol Room and occasionally posts videos of himself playing sports on social media.
