Hung Vanngo, the Vietnamese make-up artist behind Selena Gomez, Priyanka Chopra and Penelope Cruz’s hottest looks
He has glammed up celebrities including Amanda Seyfried, Dakota Fanning, Gisele Bündchen and Emily Ratajkowski, and styled shoots for Vogue, Allure, i-D and Elle – here’s what else you need to know
There are celebrity make-up artists and then there’s Hung Vanngo, whose works need no introduction. According to his website bio, his works have appeared in a variety of publications including Vogue, Allure, i-D and Elle, just to name a few.
He has collaborated with Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Lancôme, L’Oréal and Estée Lauder. In addition to his success, he has glammed up celebrities including Selena Gomez, Gisele Bündchen, Julianne Moore and Emily Ratajkowski.
Vanngo is noted for his “playful use of colour and creating beautiful complexions with a few swipes of a beauty blender”, reported by CR Fashion Book.
He was the architect behind Selena Gomez’s Met Gala 2017 look: a statement-making, hot-pink eyeshadow that complemented her Coach gown. And just recently, he created Penelope Cruz’s dazzling bronze eye for this year’s Oscars.
The make-up guru channels his creativity the moment he picks up his brush, eschewing mock-ups or pegs, and trusts his instinct. “I change my mind, I change the lipstick colour, I change the eyeshadow,” Vanngo said to Them. “It’s better if you don’t have the reference and just go with your heart.”
