We may not be going out as much as normal, but that’s no excuse for not raising your accessories game when we’re all seen on screen day in, day out. Here’s a selection of stylish ways to quickly update your look when your friends come calling (online).

Swing this summer

Are you kept awake wondering which earrings to pair with your sunnies? Gucci has an unconventional answer for your next beach day: their latest range of eyewear comes with dangling earrings attached. The online exclusive collection was released by the Italian luxury designer in time for summer and comprises three limited edition styles, each in two distinct colours. Only 100 pairs of each version have been made, making them as exclusive as designer gear gets.

The collection is gender neutral, but there are two particularly feminine styles in the collection: an oversized butterfly frame and a thick square frame. These retro-chic sunnies feature a statement Endura Gold chain that swings from the temples. Attached are the detachable earrings, made from mother of pearl or glossy acetate, embellished with – or, for one style, chiselled into – the iconic interlocking G logo.

For bold summer style, keep your eyes open for the acetate frames in ivory-zebra print, created exclusively for Gucci, with matching charms.

Gourd fortune

It’s time to be doubly blessed with some doubly beautiful jewellery. Jeweller Qeelin takes the famous Chinese saying of “good things come in pairs” to a new level in its iconic collection Double Wulu. Representing intertwined symbols for fortune and love, the line features interlocking double wulus in 18-carat rose gold and diamonds, with the range comprising a pendant, bracelet, dangling earrings, ear studs and matching ring. The exquisite pieces embody a sense of strong commitment towards a special someone or dear family members.

The brand took inspiration from the wulu in ancient Chinese mythology, a traditional gourd whose shape resembles the lucky number eight. Legend has it, the wulu possesses magical powers of protection, lending a hint of the mystical to the jewellery set.

Showcasing fine craftsmanship and creativity, Qeelin reimagined the wulu symbol and transformed it from traditional to playfully modern with a sophisticated touch.

Hair and now with Hermès

Go for a classic look with the Cavalcadour voltigeur scarf. Photo: Hermès

It’s time to switch up your regular scarf look – prepare to fold, knot and repeat, transforming them into trendy bandanas, carrés or twillys. To welcome the new season, Hermès presents its dynamic spring/summer 2020 silk scarf collection featuring vibrant colours, artistic motifs and new formats.

Among the highlights is the Cavalcadour voltigeur scarf in silk twill, a classic design by Henri d’Origny, reinvented with a 3D design that can be wrapped on top of a visor.

The Wow double-sided scarf delivers on its name with its distinctive pop-art design. The silk scarf’s unique twist is to showcase two versions of its design: in full technicolour on one side and monochromatic on the other. It can also be worn as a mini cape.

The Della Cavalleria Favolosa is another double-sided scarf with interpretations of its design in colour and monochrome. Infused with fantastical creatures and horses, it is inspired by a 17th century equestrian treatise in the Musée Émile Hermès.

Festival highs

Summer’s festival season may come and go this year without a single burning effigy, but its fashion is perhaps a little more resilient – just ask Loewe.

The Spanish heritage designer has collaborated with online men’s retail platform Mr Porter for the first time in an exclusive capsule wardrobe that falls under Loewe’s 2020 Paula’s Ibiza collection. (Paula’s is the historical Balearic boutique that creative director Jonathan Anderson has collaborated with since 2017.)

On May 22, Mr Porter unveiled nine exclusive pieces from the Mr Porter x Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza collaboration, buzzing with bohemian zing. These include ready-to-wear items, footwear and accessories that epitomise the hedonistic, visual extravaganza that Anderson realises for Paula’s Ibiza this season.

Anderson remarks, “In this collection the sense of escapism and joy becomes total. As a positive and energising message, I believe it is very apt for this moment.”

For the capsule wardrobe, expect oversized silhouettes with club-flier graphics and tie-dye print. For footwear, Loewe does what Loewe does best; braided sandals are complete with artisanal touches like contrast stitching and a logo strap, crafted from premium Spanish leather.

Wandering star

“Dior around the world” is the newest travel-inspired addition to the brand’s Dioriviera capsule collection. Designed by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the collection is breezy and carefree, with striking prints and motifs of wanderlust, complementing a stylish wardrobe for a summer getaway. The emblematic toile de Jouy is reimagined in several themes, offering tropical and camouflage spirits and even a map of the world. Working with Chiuri, frequent collaborator Roman artist Pietro Ruffo reinvents Monsieur Dior’s lucky star on a map that unites the elements of the universe, flora and fauna. The star emblem is a signature touch in this collection and is present in the new versions of the Dior book tote, saddle and camp bags, mules and light jumpers.

Along with embroidered bags and shoes for jet-setting, the Dioriviera capsule collection also includes bathing suits, pareos, jewellery, espadrilles and other trendy accessories for a cool summer look.
