Why are K-pop stars Jimin of BTS, Lai-kuan of Wanna One and all of boy band Vav crazy for the Bollywood film 3 Idiots? Here are 5 Korean celebrities who love Indian movies – so much so they’re even looking to work with stars like Aamir Khan

It’s no surprise that Bollywood films have gained massive followings worldwide, even in perhaps some of the least-expected nations with their own thriving, but distinct entertainment scenes – namely: South Korea. Despite several Korean films having their own Bollywood makeovers (Ode To My Father, Seven Days), the original Indian cinema has still caught the eyes of many Koreans movie-goers’ attention – including some major Korean stars like these five.

During a V Live session with fans recently, the 1995-born singer mentioned that he had watched 3 Idiots – which instantly made the 2009 film a fresh viral hit among Korean and non-Korean fans. The coming-of-age drama stayed in number one after its release in South Korea and grossed more than US$3 million dollars.

The seven-member K-pop band Vav has stated their interest in working alongside Bollywood actor Aamir Khan – again after watching 3 Idiots. During their concert in India last year, Lou said that they have watched several Indian movies. Furthermore, St Van and Ayno stated that they “welcome any collaborative performances with Indian musicians”.
