Melania Trump’s holiday looks: Dior art deco to Dolce & Gabbana houndstooth – all the US first lady’s Christmas and Thanksgiving outfits

One thing we’re sure to miss is the sense of style former model Melania brought to White House official functions like the Thanksgiving Turkey Pardoning and Christmas tree greeting – think high fashion from Balenciaga, Burberry, Michael Kors and Saint Laurent, almost always paired with Christian Louboutin shoes or boots
On November 23, Melania Trump welcomed the official 2020 White House Christmas tree in her usual meticulously styled way. She also debuted a new blond hairstyle that’s caused an internet frenzy, neatly expunging a potential Christmas controversy surrounding a phone tape with a former friend about White House Christmas traditions, in which she stated, “Who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?”
As this will be the last Christmas decorations she has to put up at the White House as the country transitions to President-elect Joe Biden, we took a look back at the first lady’s best holiday looks through the years. Spoiler alert: there’s a lot of high fashion, textures, colours, houndstooth and teetering heels.

Greeting this year’s Christmas tree, the first lady stepped out in a structured ensemble, layering a black and white tie-neck tweed coat from Balenciaga over a leather knee-length skirt, and finished off the outfit with a pair of towering Christian Louboutin suede boots and black leather gloves from Italian brand Bottega Veneta.

At this year’s Turkey Pardoning ceremony before Thanksgiving, the former model was outfitted in a Dolce & Gabbana single-breasted houndstooth coat, which comes from the Italian duo’s autumn 2019 ready-to-wear collection and is priced at US$3,610. She styled it with a pair of two-toned Manolo Blahnik suede pumps.
