The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, New York and Dallas regularly tell all on the Bravo reality TV series, reportedly for US$300,000 to US$500,000 per season

Embroiled in a bankruptcy case and an investigation into embezzled millions, no wonder Jayne and Girardi’s Pasadena mansion is up for sale ... but what’s it like?

The year 2006 was a good one for cable channel Bravo when it introduced The Real Housewives franchise, a reality television series depicting the unbelievably “real” lives of wealthy American housewives inside and outside their glamorous mansions in Beverly Hills, New York and Dallas.

Gossip, jealousy, and marital and legal problems aren’t off limits to The Real Housewives. In fact, for the estimated US$300,000 to US$500,000 per season each housewife receives to appear on the show, one could argue that producers expect them to tell all – dirty laundry included. An unexpected (and likely unintended) point of the series also seems to be that money, jewels, mansions and designer clothing aren’t the path to happiness.

At least, that seems to be the case for Erika Jayne.

One of the most popular – and controversial – housewives, Jayne, who joined the cast in 2015, lived in a stunning historical mansion spanning almost two acres of lush grounds in Pasadena, California.

And, almost like a Real Housewives storyline, Jayne recently divorced her high-powered and older lawyer husband, Tom Girardi, among allegations of infidelity. But that’s not all: Girardi has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and his law practice is reportedly in a shambles in an ongoing bankruptcy case; and both Jayne and Girardi are the subjects of a legal investigation involving millions of dollars of missing client funds. Yikes. No wonder they have put their fabulous mansion on the market at US$13 million.

So what can the lucky future buyer expect from one of the most beautiful properties in Pasadena, once they receive the keys?

Designed in 1928 by Myron Hubbard Hunt, the mansion features iron gates that lead into the motor court and then through a solid bronze front door. At 10,277 square feet, the home has four bedrooms and nine baths. The huge formal rooms are elegant and designed for entertaining large groups, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass doors with views over the terraces and gardens.
