Summer is in full swing and there is an exciting line-up of entertainment to look forward to on Netflix in August. Here are the new shows we’re most looking forward to watching ... ‘Sheeranville’? Why Ed Sheeran and Adele are building huge fan-proof estates Cooking with Paris : released August 4 We loved Paris Hilton’s viral home cooking videos on YouTube last year and it seems Netflix did too. The streaming service got a whiff of show potential – and possibly freshly baked lasagne – and now Hilton has her own series featuring special guests Kim Kardashian West , Lele Pons and Demi Lovato, among others. Watching Hilton in her pink gown asking a supermarket staff member how to use chives is giving us serious The Simple Life vibes. (Let’s not forget just how much Miss Hilton has done for reality TV.) Now all we need is former Simple Life co-star Nicole Richie to bag a series about raising chickens. Who’s the richest Hilton? The hotel family’s net worths – ranked Sweet Girl : released August 20 The Netflix original film sees Aquaman ’s Jason Momoa playing devoted family man Ray Cooper, who vows to get justice for his wife who died after a life-saving cancer drug was withheld from her by pharmaceutical companies. As with most action films, there are plenty of bad guys to pummel – which Cooper and his sidekick daughter (played by Isabela Merced) do with satisfying flair. Inside Leonardo DiCaprio’s new US$7 million Los Angeles home Untold: Caitlyn Jenner : released on August 24 From the creators of Wild Wild Country , five-part docuseries Untold will focus on stories in sport from a fresh, intimate perspective. Episodes that have already been teased include Caitlyn Jenner reflecting on her Olympic journey , tennis player Mardy Fish’s struggles with anxiety, and the “Malice at the Palace” Pacers-Pistons brawl finally being explained by those who were there. With a dramatic Tokyo Games still in play and the Naomi Osaka documentary released just last month, sports docus are definitely in vogue. Is Melania leading an entirely separate life from Donald Trump? Marie Kondo: Sparking Joy : released August 31 Sparking Joy follows the success of Kondo’s first series that introduced the KonMari method to the world. The philosophy of letting go of belongings that no longer “spark joy” inspired countless households across the world to rid themselves of their unwanted items. After Kondo’s debut success and the subsequent popularity of Netflix’s other tidying show The Home Edit , we’re not sure how the organisational expert and bestselling author can top her KonMari folding method or Clea and Joanna’s rainbow sorting, but we look forward to being schooled. Karlie Kloss and Ivanka Trump: frenemies? Plus one show we’re not so sure about … He’s All That : released August 27 We get it, Gen Z: you can’t come up with your own content, so you’re picking out the greatest hits from the 90s. Needless to say, we’re all curious about this reimagining of the hit teen romcom She’s All That . Not least because Rachael Leigh Cook, who starred opposite Freddie Prinze Junior in the original, plays the main character’s mother in this reimagining. TikTok star Addison Rae has been cast as the new protagonist – with a special appearance by BFF Kourtney Kardashian. Padgett Sawyer (played by Rae) is a teen social media influencer, humiliated on-camera after she catches her boyfriend cheating on her. To save her reputation, she makes a bet that she can turn an antisocial high-schooler into prom king. Kelly Clarkson’s US$6.3 million Tennessee mansion – complete with cowboy bar For starters, does being prom queen or king still matter? Aren’t we done with arbitrary gender constructs? And remixing the iconic Sixpence None the Richer song Kiss Me … we don’t know if we can forgive that. Want more stories like this? Sign up here.
