Unbeaten Hong Kong professional boxer Rex Tso Sing-yuwill be looking for his 22nd straight win in the paid ranks when he takes on Japan’s former WBA champion Kohei Kono at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai on October 7.
In support of Tso, who will claim the WBO international super flyweight title if he wins the bout, Nike has produced a microfilm directed by award-winning international film director Michael Mann.
High jump champion Cecilia Yeung is among the stand-out local athletes to feature in the short film.
Tso says he is grateful that Hong Kong athletes are finally gaining worldwide recognition. “I hope I will be able to inspire other athletes to push boundaries they never thought possible.” Tso said.
The 30-year-old Hong Kong southpaw, dubbed “The Wonder Kid”, has been offered a big-money payday against Japanese superstar and WBO super flyweight champion Naoya Inoue next year if he can get past Kono.
Tso has knocked out 13 of his 21 opponents since turning professional in September 2011, and is ranked in the top 10 by all of the major boxing organisations.
