2 Hermès Birkin bags sell for HK$2.62 million at Christie’s Hong Kong auction

A Hermes 2010 matte black niloticus crocodile ‘so black’ Birkin 30 bag, which was sold at auction for HK$1.37 million by Christie’s Hong Kong on Wednesday.

Christie’s handbags and accessories spring auction in Hong Kong on Wednesday saw sales total HK$43.17 million (US$5.5 million).

The top selling items at the auction were two different Hermès Birkin bags, which together sold for HK$2.62 million.

A rare, Hermès 2010 matte black niloticus crocodile “so black” Birkin 30 bag was sold for HK$1.37 million – far higher than its estimate of HK$400,000.


A Hermès 2010 shiny améthyste porosus crocodile diamond Birkin 35 bag with 18ct white gold and diamond hardware was sold for HK$1.25 million – also above its estimate of HK$900,000.

“The outstanding sell-through rates this season for diamond hardware Hermès bags, mini bags, custom-made pieces and men’s sacs reinforce our global market leadership for the category,” says Winsy Tsang, head of sale, handbags and accessories, Asia, at Christie’s Hong Kong.
