The Queen of Pop celebrates her 60th birthday today and we’re joining the party by counting down Madonna’s most memorable moments on stage

Madonna is one of the most revered pop icons of the 21st century. Her influence on fashion, culture and music is unparalleled.

The Queen of Pop released her album, “Like A Virgin”, in 1984 and has continued to surprise audiences and reinvent herself decade after decade.

This year, Madonna announced on her Instagram that she is working on her 14th studio album. As an early celebration of her 60th birthday, she was featured on the cover of Vogue Italia’s August edition, which goes to show age is just a number for this pop diva.

To celebrate Madge’s (as she is known by her fans) birthday, we have compiled a list of our all-time favourite moments of her on stage.

1. ‘Like A Virgin’ – MTV Video Music Awards 1984

Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” album sold more than five million copies in the US when it was released. She was the first female artist to achieve this record. It was later certified diamond and sold over 21 million copies worldwide. Madonna made her first mark on pop culture with this performance.

2. ‘Express Yourself’ – Blond Ambition Tour 1990

It is difficult to choose just one moment from this tour that catapulted Madonna into iconic status in pop culture and it was not just her music that showed her to be both edgy and ahead of her time.
