The Golden Globe Awards nominations are out, and lead actress Constance Wu has been nominated for the ‘Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy award’ for her role as Rachel Chu in Jon M. Chu’s Crazy Rich Asians.

Constance Wu revealed on Twitter that she had her phone on “Do Not Disturb” mode, so she was receiving congratulations before she even knew that she had been nominated. That is something her goofy character in the movie, Rachel Chu, would also giggle at.

Here are 5 of our favourite Rachel Chu moments from the Crazy Rich Asians romantic comedy.

Crazy Rich Asians stars Michelle Yeoh and Henry Golding to reunite

1. When Nick Young (played by Henry Golding), invites her to Singapore.

Nick: “What about us taking an adventure east?”

Rachel: “ … like Queens?”

How can we not love her clueless innocence? This was a perfect introduction to the sweet, yet oblivious Rachel Chu.

2. When she unabashedly checks a half-naked Nick out.

There’s no shame in enjoying some eye candy. Let’s admit it, ladies, we were all doing it.

3. When she made friends with a princess because of her brains.

If anyone was going to make friends with an intellectual princess, it would be Rachel – by discussing microloans and economics while helping women, of course.

How to live like ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ – if only for a day

4. When Rachel is talking about Nick’s mother trying to intimidate her, and she goes overboard.

Rachel: “She’s like trying to play a game of chicken with me, thinking I’m going to swerve like a chicken.”

Peik Lin (played by Awkwafina): “But you can’t swerve. You gonna roll up and be like …”

Rachel: “Bak bak bitch”.

Is the Singapore depicted in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ fact or fiction?

5. The mahjong scene.

How can we not include the highlight of the movie, where Rachel has a mahjong showdown with Nick’s mother Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh). Then (spoiler alert) she gives away the winning tile to prove her point – she would not make Nick choose between her and his family, and that there’s “no winning”.
