1. We have his brother Chris to thank for Liam’s acting career

“I always loved films, I loved how I felt watching them, like Independence Day, completely believing in all of it. But I didn’t ever consider acting until I went to watch Chris one day while he was working on Home and Away and something just clicked. Why don’t I give it a go? So, I did some classes, got an agent and auditioned for everything going. And I got a few TV things pretty early on, which was great.”

2. In fact, both his brothers are his BFFs

“Everything they did, I did. When they would build a tree house, I wanted to be a part of it, when they started surfing, I wanted to go out with them even though I was too young. I was always following them around. I still do. And yes, when they went into acting, I wanted to do it, too. So, I always listen to what they have to say. They think I don’t. But I do. We’re not the kind of brothers who call each other on the phone every night and talk about our lives. But when we do get together, we have a lot of fun. My brothers are still my best friends.”

3. He’s let the Thor dream go

“Never recovered [from Chris getting the role]!” he jokes. “I believe in things happening for a reason. I wasn’t meant to get Thor – could you imagine anyone but Chris playing him? I think it would have been weird potentially if I got it as the little brother … Things worked out for the better.”

4. Hollywood seems confused by Australian actors

“That’s the thing, when you go to LA and you’re auditioning and tell them you’re Australian, they just assume that you have no experience at all, you don’t have a clue. So, when you show off this timing and ability picked up from working on a show at home, it takes them by surprise.”

5. He loves the vegan life

“My mum was vegetarian, and she still is. So, we mainly ate vegetables growing up in our home and I decided to go vegan while I was shooting Independence Day. I feel I have more energy and I sleep better since I went vegan so I’m going to stick with it. I also love to cook, and I’ve even started planting vegetables in the garden of my new house. I took cooking and nutrition courses in high school and cooking is something that has always been a passion of mine, especially since I love to eat! I like preparing a lot of different Mexican and rice dishes. I also like making salads and pasta.”
