Being at the top of iTunes charts in more than 18 countries and reaching 620 million views with the hit single Ddu-Du Ddu-Du, BLACKPINK’s Rose is taking her music and dancing talent to a wider audience.

Here are four things you probably didn’t know about Rose.

Early life

Born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1997, she was raised in Melbourne, Australia from the age of seven. She was only 15 when YG Entertainment discovered her talent at an audition in Melbourne. After training for 4 years and two months, Rose Park Chae-young joined BLACKPINK.

She was a cheerleader at high school and sang in church choirs

Being the group’s lead dancer with a sweet, dreamy voice, her dancing skills and ability to hit high notes are considered impressive even for trained artists in South Korea.

Hidden talent

Rose, who is keen to play the piano and guitar, can also draw and spin her hands in 360 degrees.

The group has 60 million followers on Instagram, and its music videos have over 2.5 billion views on YouTube. Rose is the first girl group member to reach 1 million likes on Instagram.

Academic achievements

The quietest member of BLACKPINK, Rose was a law student at Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College before a successful audition led to her dropping out. Her older sister, lawyer Alice Park, is also an Insta-famous public figure.

Personal life

In an interview with 2 O’Clock Date, she mentioned Korean actor Gong Yoo as a celebrity who is close to her ideal partner. She believes her future husband will be someone who is nice and genuine, and with a unique voice.

The slender artist is a foodaholic. Despite her dislike of “mushy and weird” avocados, Rose indulges herself in kimchi stew, peppers, mangoes and healthy drinks. She rewards herself with a tiny cheat meal after her daily workouts.
